The Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine issued a product recall notice on ViraPro hand sanitiser PCS100409.
 
We can confirm that Carndonagh Community School has not purchased or used this product.

Carndonagh Community School will provide a mask to any pupils who forgets ( e.g. walking to school ), loses or needs a replacement for any reason. The school has no role and function in deciding who merits an exemption beyond the guidelines ( see below ).
 
With regard to breathing difficulties and anxieties, the school can not be expected to diagnose and we are advised that this should be a decision made by a medically qualified person. 
 
The wearing of masks by all children will protect all children and staff. This is an anxious time for everyone who is sending a child back to school. It is an anxious time for staff. Parents have the option of delaying their child's return to school until they see how things are progressing. The return to school is of national importance and every measure to minimise the risk of transmission of Covid-19 must be applied. I again refer you to the Minister's decision and the guidelines for schools.

Gov.ie Control Measures: COVID-19 response plan for safe reopening of post primary schools

Post primary

Teachers, SNAs and other staff and students attending post primary schools are required to wear a face covering when a physical distance of 2 metres from other staff and students cannot be maintained. 

Cloth face coverings should not be worn by any of the following groups: 

  • any person with difficulty breathing 
  • any person who is unconscious or incapacitated 
  • any person who is unable to remove the face covering without assistance 
  • any person who has special needs and who may feel upset or very uncomfortable wearing the face covering. For example: persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, sensory concerns or tactile sensitivity
