ATHLETICS - Carndonagh Community School recorded a range of strong performances at the Donegal Post-primary Schools' Cross-country Championships held at the Shore Front in Buncrana on Wednesday, 16th November. Hosted by Scoil Mhuire Buncrana, the event proved a huge success, with schools from across the County and Northwest competing. Niamh Mc Daid led our First Year girls' team to third place overall with a fine ninth place finish. James Mc Kinney raced to second place in the First Year boys' race and led his team to gold medals. Christopher Harkin finished fourth in the Second Year boys 2.5km race and once again CCS was at the top of the podium with the team taking gold medals. In the senior boys 3.7km race, Declan Donaghy just edged out Patrick Mathews in the sprint to the line, finishing 7th overall and leading the team to silver medals. Although outside the medals on this occasion, CCS Third Year boys and girls teams performed well in competitive and keenly contested races. Derek-Lee Doherty was the leading finisher in 19th position, with Aine Bradley leading the way for the girls with a top 20 finish also.
