Vocational Transition Year Boys 2008/09

Visitors to the school during the Summer all remarked on the wonderful display of colour provided by the flower boxes and planters around the school. This was the product of a joint project achieved by the Vocational Transition Year class in their Horticulture and Woodwork modules.

Having admired the product why not check and see how this was created. There is a photographic catalogue of the development of the wooden planters and the stonework planter – designed and built by the boys and then planted. ( There were a few doubters as to whether anything would grow! )

The transformation from the days that we planted the boxes ( in the cold days of February )and positioned them around the school to the emergence of the flowers all through the season was remarkable. This was a ‘hands on’ project that improved the general school environment and allowed the boys experiment with different skills.
