Can't Argue with the CCS Debate Team...

CCS' Debate Team have had a superb start to the school year winning their first three debates in the Concern Debate Competition League Phase.

The team faced Loreto High School, Letterkenny, in their first round, opposing the motion that: 'Africa will regret its reliance on China', achieving a unanimous win from the external adjudicators.

In the second round, CCS' team faced Patrician High School, Monaghan, proposing the motion that: 'African nations must be allowed to develop fossil fuel resources to help lift their people out of poverty'. Once again, they received a unanimous verdict from the external adjudicator.

In the third round, CCS met CBS The Green of Tralee, Co. Kerry opposing the motion that: 'Big businesses are indifferent to the sustainable development goals'. The team achieved their third unanimous win of the competition so far which has left them in joint second position out of 200 schools in the entire country!

On Tuesday the 23rd January, Carndonagh competed against Kinsale Community College of Cork in the first stage of the Knockout Rounds opposing the motion that: 'Properly regulated, AI will be a force for good'.

We wish them the very best of luck as we await the results on Friday 26th January 2024.
