Transition Year student, Michaela McCloskey, was selected to take part in the TY Work Experience Programme in Leinster House, alongside 29 other students from across Ireland.
Over the course of the five-day programme, Michaela gained valuable insight into the wide range of career opportunities within the civil and public service. She learned about the role and functions of the Oireachtas, received a guided tour of Leinster House, and had the unique opportunity to attend the Dáil during Leaders’ Questions, experiencing Irish politics in action.
During her time there, Michaela also met several Donegal TDs, including Charles Ward, Pat the Cope Gallagher, and Pádraig McLaughlin, which added a personal and memorable element to her visit.
This experience provided Michaela with a deeper understanding of how government operates and offered an inspiring glimpse into potential future career paths.
