TY Pupils Become 'Teechers' to Win Drama Award

Updated: Feb 27

On Tuesday 20th February, TYs Bethany Donegan, Megan Gallagher and Declan Stamp Porter took to the stage of the Balour Theatre, Ballyboffey where they performed ‘Teechers’, a classroom comedy, written by John Godber, adapted and directed by Ms Sellick.

Producer and director Maura Logue was the Adjudicator for the Donegal Drama Festival and praised the cast's "mature, confident control of the space". She highlighted their excellent use of “body language, voice tonality and projection” in their portrayal of multiple characters.

On Thursday evening the festival came to a close. Ms Logue stated that ‘CCS set the competition off with great energy and superb actors”. She awarded CCS' first trophy for ‘special effects/visuals and sound’. Finally, the cast were delighted to win a second trophy: the Harry McGown perpetual trophy for technical excellence.

Megan Gallagher said, "being in a play was something I had never done before so I was a bit hesitant, but I am delighted with how it all worked out and I really enjoyed it.”

If you could see yourself on stage at the Balour next year, don’t forget Drama Club is on every Thursday lunchtime in Room 128.
